We’re honored to continue MWEC’s Promote Her Journey campaign by highlighting an entrepreneur whose mission driven vision is transforming education access for students in underserved areas.
Meet April Buschelman, founder of TapIntoEDU, an online education platform serving high school students, schools, and families, especially those in rural, private, and homeschool settings.
April launched TapIntoEDU with a powerful purpose, to bridge the gap between educational opportunities available in metro areas and those in rural or alternative learning environments. “I could see the difference between our metro school course options and the rural and homeschool course options,” she shares. “I wanted to help students receive opportunities in online education and career exploration, while simultaneously assisting schools with the teacher shortage and meeting legislative requirements.”
Like many founders, April has faced the tension between mission and market. One of her biggest challenges was resisting the temptation to pursue larger school districts simply for revenue. “I could market my business to the larger schools and districts, but my focus is on helping rural, private, and homeschool students, schools, and families,” she says. Staying grounded in that mission has shaped her approach and allowed her to serve those who need it most.
Among April’s proudest moments are the “A-Ha!” breakthroughs she sees when educators and families realize the full potential of TapIntoEDU. “Once people hear all the different ways my business could help, I often see the ‘A-Ha!’ moments,” she explains. “I’m most proud of being asked to produce more courses for unique student situations—because I know schools are seeking what’s best for their students.”
April’s work is helping students gain experience with online learning and career exploration, which brings deep fulfillment to her life. “Serving the greater community is what drives me,” she says.
For other women entrepreneurs, April offers a bold reminder: “If you don’t shout out yourself, nobody will do it for you!” She acknowledges how scary it can be to strike out on your own and try to get people to listen, but encourages others to keep going. “You never know what one phone call or one conversation might bring.”
Her journey hasn’t been easy in her own words, it’s been “arduous.” But that persistence is exactly what has made her work so impactful.
April’s story is a testament to the power of staying true to your mission, even when the path is challenging. Through TapIntoEDU, she’s creating opportunities that didn’t exist before and making a difference where it matters most.
