When Christie Stukenholtz searched for senior care for her grandmother from several states away, she discovered just how overwhelming and confusing the process could be. “I kept thinking—there has to be a better way,” she recalls. That insight sparked her mission to create Senior Care Finder, the nation’s most comprehensive and intuitive online marketplace for senior living and care providers.

Christie, who brings experience in marketing, technology, and healthcare services, built Senior Care Finder to empower families with clarity and control during one of life’s most emotional decisions. Designed as a “Zillow-for-senior-care,” it allows users to search, compare, and connect directly with providers—free of sales pressure and personal data collection. “There’s no middleman, no bait-and-switch,” Christie says. “Just real information for real people, delivered with compassion and transparency.”

Christie has spent over a decade building solutions at the intersection of technology and service. 

The idea for Senior Care Finder began around 2015, and by 2018 she secured a Nebraska prototype grant to bring the concept to life. Senior Care Finder officially launched in 2019 and has since grown steadily, doubling in size annually and moving into its permanent downtown Lincoln office in 2024.

Launching and scaling a mission-driven company while growing her family hasn’t been easy. Christie welcomed her second child prematurely while in the midst of rapid business growth. “I had to let go and trust my team,” she reflects. “That experience taught me the power of building a high-performing, high-trust team—and they rose to the occasion.”

Today, Senior Care Finder is helping millions of families make confident, informed decisions at a vulnerable time, and Christie considers that her proudest achievement. “The real magic happens when people with complementary strengths come together behind a shared mission,” she says.

Her advice to other women founders: “It’s almost impossible to feel anxious and grateful at the same time. Gratitude is what keeps me grounded.”
